Hello James,

Sorry for late submission. I thought the deadline would be today until I check the mail again...

Hope it can be accepted. If not it's okay. I will be on time the next month.

Thank you,

Eric Martin - Tier 4

Hey James
I started this before i got my last critique and started to scramble to try and make the painting make more sense and to avoid tangents. Well hopefully you can help me improve this. Thanks again.

Yog Joshi - Tier 4

Hello James. Thank you for the invite for this month. I have a rough sketch of a house/cabin that is set in the middle of a dense forest. The architecture is influenced by medieval design. I would like to know how I could make the design and composition better. Thanks! - Yog

Perspective grid I used.

Luke Abbott - Tier 2

Hello James...These are not 100% complete especially the tropical mountain piece which is about 60-70% done and has quite a few issues with it...but will be cool to get your take on it and where to go from here. Kind regards,

Jon Simpson - Tier 4

Hey James,

I've included two versions of this illustration. In the first version, the background wasn't feeling quite right. I felt like I was missing an opportunity to enhance the creepy vibe. It also felt very stiff compositionally.

The second version has a few rendering fixes and value adjustments. I've also begun to work on a new background. I'm not entirely sure how to go about it, though.

I want the background to feel fairly loose and painterly compared to the relatively harder edges in the foreground. I'm also trying to avoid getting too complex in the background, because the characters are far more important to the illustration.

Basically, I'm just aiming for something simple that helps enhance the mood, while still having environment elements. I'm also trying to figure out ways to make the color pop a little bit more.

Thanks for any advice you can give. It is much appreciated.

Kean Wai - Tier4

Hi James,

Thank you for the awesome critique. I have made changes based off the previous critique. The character feels a lot more natural now. I have also done a new piece for this month's critique session. Looking forward to it!

Dennis Houwers - Tier3

Hello James.

For this month I am uploading a selection of thumbnails/environment sketches.
I do a lot of these and would like to know how to give these more interesting 'entertainment lighting'. before I render them further and add characters and story elements.

I hope that's OK - and otherwise you can just pick the one you feel has the most potential.

Looking forward to the overpaint and some cool light ideas

Kind regards,
Dennis Houwers

Hi everyone! This month, I'm trying to practice the fluid dynamics for viscous and non-viscous liquids.

Thank you.

Two black & white images again. Trying to improve on composition and contrast, as well as storytelling.

Stefanie Odendahl – Tier 2 – July 2016

Here are my posts for this month – I still don't have so much time at the moment, so it's a new and an older image again

This is Fran an alligator shaman playing with her totem – based on my first shadowrun character. I kinda like this piece, but something is off, and I'm not sure what it is...

And again the older one – I still like the concept...
